Brief biography
Charles David Aubin was born in France, either in 1778 or 1781. He fled to England during the French Revolution and spent the rest of his life there. He married a woman named Jane and likely had two children: Charles David Aubin Jr., later a talented lockmaker, and Frederick.
Aubin was demonstrating as an itinerant glassworker by 1811, and likely earlier. He was patronized by Queen Charlotte and her daughters, particularly Charlotte, Princess Royale. Aubin was active well into his 70s, still making glass in the 1850s. While he travelled across the country, he was based in Wolverhampton later in life.
